A Prophet of the Most High

President HinckleyLast night, I received the sad news that Gordon B. Hinckley, the President and Prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, my church, passed peacefully into the next life.

I want to leave my testimony of his calling. I know that the Lord called him to be the prophet. I know that he received revelation from the Lord to guide His Church in these days. His life was one of service, never one of selfishness. His love was pure. It was charity, Christ’s love. Under the direction of the Lord, our Prophet guided this church for nearly thirteen years. He has been my prophet, for I have known no other so closely. His life was one of sacrifice, diligence and humility. He has been honored by men, and he has been scorned by them. And yet, none could stop the glorious work of the gospel from progressing. His life was spent in the service of his Lord from an early age. Like Samuel of old he gave the Lord his very best. And the Lord will bless him accordingly.

President Hinckley, we love you. We will miss you. But we know that this life is not the end. So we say to you, God be with you till we meet again.
